Uganda ( or ), officially the Republic of Uganda, is a landlocked country in East Africa. Uganda is bordered on the east by Kenya, on the north by South Sudan, on the west by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on the southwest by Rwanda, and on the south by Tanzania.

Ugandan official: Joseph Kony commander to be investigated, may be tried if enough evidence

A Ugandan official says a top Joseph Kony associate recently captured in the jungle will be "investigated" and may be put on trial if there is sufficient evidence against him.

Director of Public Prosecutions Richard Buteera released that statement Tuesday. Caesar Acellam was arrested in the Central African Repulic on May 12. He is the highest-ranking former Lord's Resistance Army member to have left the bush.Uganda's defense minister said last week that Acellam may be eligible for amnesty, though Radhika Coomaraswamy, the top U.N. official for children and armed conflict, has said Acellam must face charges.Members of the LRA are guilty of the torture and abuse of thousands of victims in Central Africa.
