Voskoboeva wins, Shvedova eliminated in Tashkent

Galina Voskoboeva won her first-round match Tuesday at the Tashkent Open, while fellow Kazakhstan native Yaroslava Shvedova was sent home early.The seventh-seeded Voskoboeva posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Maryna Zanevska of the Ukraine, while Serbia's Vesna Dolonc eliminated the eighth-seeded Shvedova with a 7-6 (8-6), 7-5 triumph.Voskoboeva, one of Serena Williams' victims at the U.S. Open, will next meet Israel's Julia Glushko, a 6-3, 7-5 winner Tuesday over Tetyana Arefyeva of the Ukraine.Shvedova was also ousted by Williams in the third round at Flushing Meadows.Dolonc, meanwhile, had lost each of her last two first-round matches after a run to the third round at Wimbledon.
