Meier boosts Eintracht's Champions League hopes

A pair of goals from Alexander Meier helped Eintracht to a 3-1 home win against Dusseldorf on Saturday, keeping the hosts within three points of a place in the top four.Meier opened the scoring after 31 minutes when he was on hand to finish off a parried shot from Srdjan Lakic, who found the net himself early in the second half by heading home a corner kick from Takashi Inui.A nice solo effort from Dani Schahin allowed Dusseldorf to pull within a goal as he ran 50 yards before slotting his shot past goalkeeper Oka Nikolov. But Meier ensured that all three points would be staying in Frankfurt with a superb finish from the top of the penalty area that was curled into the upper corner of the net.The result has Eintracht on course for at least a place in the Europa League next season, while Dusseldorf is in danger of dropping into the bottom three if Augsburg earns a point at Freiburg on Sunday.Borussia Dortmund 1, Bayern Munich 1Dortmund, Germany - In a preview of the Champions League fina...
