British wrestler Myroslav Dykun tests positive for amphetamines, could miss Olympics

One of Britain's top wrestlers was suspended for doping and will likely miss the London Olympics.

Myroslav Dykun, who won the gold medal in the 146-pound Greco-Roman category at the Commonwealth Games in 2010, tested positive for amphetamines and is awaiting the result of a "B'' sample in two weeks."He is immediately suspended from competition and funding," British Wrestling chief executive Colin Nicholson said Thursday.Dykun will receive at least a two-year ban if his "B'' sample is positive."Suffice to say our organization will come down hard on the wrestler, as we will any wrestler who takes drugs," Nicholson said.The 29-year-old Dykun was born in Ukraine but moved to Britain in 2003 as part of the country's initiative to get Eastern European athletes to help homegrown wrestlers develop into medal prospects.British Wrestling initially said the imports would not be eligible to compete at the Olympics but that position has changed, angering British-born wrestlers.Britain hasn't won an ...
