UMass tangles with VCU in A-10 semifinals

The sixth-seeded Massachusetts Minutemen will try to pull off another upset as they tangle with the second-seeded Virginia Commonwealth Rams in the semifinals of the 2013 Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament at the brand new Barclays Center.The winner moves on to Sunday's championship game to face either Butler or Saint Louis.Both UMass and VCU squared off for the first time in history this season, and the result was hardly what Minutemen head coach Derek Kellogg wanted, as he watched his troops dismantled in an 86-68 setback.UMass took down George Washington, 77-72, in the opening round of this event, as senior Chaz Williams tallied 16 points and eight assists. The team followed that with an even better performance on Friday as it defeated Temple, 79-74, behind a 28-point showing by Williams. Against the Owls, the Minutemen also got 15 points from both Freddie Riley and Terrell Vinson.
