Blues give Hensick two-year extension

The St. Louis Blues made another move to keep their young core intact, announcing on Monday a two-year contract extension with forward TJ Hensick.Hensick, 25, played in 13 games for the Blues last season, registering 1 goal and 3 points. He also played in 59 games for the Blues’ AHL affiliate in Peoria, scoring 21 goals and adding 48 assists. The 5-10, 190-pound forward’s 69 points led the Rivermen and ranked 10th in the AHL while his assist total led the team and tied for fifth in the AHL. Hensick played in his third AHL All-Star game when he represented the Western Conference at the 2011 AHL-All Star Classic.The Lansing, Mich., native was acquired by the Blues from Colorado in exchange for Julian Talbot on June 17, 2010 and was originally drafted by Colorado in the third round of the 2005 Entry Draft.
