Avalanche to retire Foote's jersey

The Colorado Avalanche will retire the jersey No. 52 of former defenseman Adam Foote some time next season.The club announced the move on Friday, saying that the 41-year-old will become the fifth member of the exclusive club, joining Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Patrick Roy and Ray Bourque as ex-players who have seen their jerseys raised to the rafters.Foote last suited up two seasons ago, a campaign limited to 47 games due to a leg injury. He departed the league as the last remaining active player to have worn a Quebec Nordiques uniform.Originally a second-round draft pick of Quebec back in 1989, Foote made his debut with the team in 1991 and spent his first 13 seasons with the franchise, including its relocation to Denver.
