Gaudreau wins 2014 Hobey Baker Award, signs with Flames

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Boston College junior forward Johnny Gaudreau captured the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, college hockey's most prestigious individual honor.Gaudreau, a 2011 fourth-round draft pick of the Calgary Flames, was a hat trick finalist for a second straight year. He topped the country in points and goals with a total of 80 points (36 goals, 44 assists). That's the most of any Division I player in 11 years. Colorado College's Peter Sejna had 82 points in 2002-03.Gaudreau, who stands at 5-foot-8 and weighs 155 pounds, recorded points in all but two games this year. That included a 31-game point streak, which tied a Hockey East record set by Paul Kariya of Maine. The Carneys Point, New Jersey native has compiled 78 goals and 97 assists in 119 games at BC.The season for Gaudreau ended Thursday in a 5-4 loss to Union at the Frozen Four.
