Godard signs two-year contract with Stars

Right wing Eric Godard signed a two-year contract with the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. The first year of the contract is a two-way deal worth $750,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 at the AHL, while the second year is a one-way agreement worth $700,000.Godard, 31, spent the 2010-11 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins , appearing in 19 games with 3 assists, a plus-4 rating, and 105 penalty minutes.The 6-4, 214-pound right winger has played in 335 career NHL games, registering 3 goals and 18 points. In eight NHL seasons, Godard has accrued 833 penalty minutes and has appeared in seven career playoff games, registering 1 assist and 6 penalty minutes.The Vernon, B.C., native was originally signed as a free agent by the Florida Panthers on Sept. 24, 1999.
