The Cuban Missile Crisis, known as the October Crisis in Cuba and the Caribbean Crisis () in the USSR was a thirteen-day confrontation between the Soviet Union and Cuba on one side and the United States on the other; the crisis occurred in October 1962, during the Cold War.

He was 90.Katzenbach died Tuesday night at his home in Skillman, N.J. His career was praised by Princeton University scholar Sean Wilentz as "long and singular" and defined by a "bedrock devotion to principle."Katzenbach's son, John, said his father "passed away with the same quiet dignity that he displayed throughout his life." He noted that although his father had accomplished much in his career as a lawyer, statesman and as a father and grandfather, "he never thought any battle was fully won until hearts and attitudes followed the law."Katzenbach's time in government was like a history of government in the 1960s: The Bay of Pigs.
