The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), informally referred to as Obamacare, is a United States federal statute signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010. The law (along with the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010) is the principal health care reform legislation of the 111th United States Congress.

Some 51% of respondents in the October survey now say they have an unfavorable opinion of the legislation passed by Democrats in March 2010, and just 34% of them feel favorably about it, the nonpartisan foundation found in a telephone survey of 1,223 people carried out in October.Earlier polls by the foundation showed public opinion was roughly split though the gap had begun to widen in recent months.
