The Tennessee Titans have applied the franchise tag on safety Michael Griffin .

The 27-year-old Griffin can still iron out a long-term deal before the season. But if he were to sign a contract with another team, the Titans have the right to match the offer or receive two first-round draft picks as compensation.Last season, the Texas product started all 16 games for the third time in four years while ranking third on the team with 96 tackles.Griffin has recorded 487 tackles and 17 interceptions in 80 career games with the Titans, who took him 19th overall in the 2007 NFL Draft ....
