Cowboys keep tackle Doug Free at much lower salary

The Dallas Cowboys have significantly reduced right tackle Doug Free's salary after a difficult season that ended with him as a part-time player.The Cowboys reworked the final two years of Free's contract, and will he make $3.5 million in 2013 instead of $7 million. Dallas probably would have cut Free if the five-year veteran had rejected a salary cut.Free is now set to make another $3.5 million in 2014, but that money isn't guaranteed. He originally had $15 million left on the four-year, $32 million deal he signed in 2011.Free struggled last year and ended up splitting time with Jermey Parnell over the final four games.The Cowboys also swapped cornerbacks on their free-agent roster, signing Malik James from Langston and releasing Dustin Harris....
