Pirates' Hughes comes off DL

The Pittsburgh Pirates reinstated relief pitcher Jared Hughes from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday's game against the Colorado Rockies.Hughes had been sidelined since June 5 due to inflammation in his right shoulder, but did not allow a run over a combined eight innings while making seven appearances during a rehab stint with Triple-A Indianapolis that began in mid-July.The 6-foot-7 righty put together a solid 2012 campaign for the Pirates, posting a 2.85 earned run average and two saves over 66 games that season, but has a 4.96 ERA while walking 10 batters through 16 1/3 innings at the big- league level this year.To make room for Hughes on the active roster, the Pirates optioned pitcher Vic Black to Indianapolis.
