Minus Braun, Brewers hope to rebound vs. Reds behind Gallardo

The Milwaukee Brewers will be without a big part of their offense for a while, but Saturday they hope to get another defensive gem from a pitcher that's had a subpar this season thus far as they resume a three-game set against the Cincinnati Reds.Friday night, the Brewers placed outfielder Ryan Braun on the 15-day disabled list with a right thumb contusion. Braun, who hasn't played since Sunday against the Phillies, is hitting .304 with nine homers and 36 RBI this season. The 2011 National League MVP is on the DL for the first time in his career.Yovani Gallardo, a 16-game winner last year, endured a four-start losing streak this season. The right-hander, though is coming off a great performance on Monday at Miami as he allowed four hits in eight shutout innings of a 6-1 win.Gallardo is 5-6 with a 4.84 ERA in 16 games against the Reds.Homer Bailey was equally as effective on Monday at Wrigley Field when he surrendered four hits and one unearned run in a 6-2 victory.
