Report: iPhone 5 Display "Will Be At Least 4 Inches"

Apple enthusiasts who found themselves disappointed by the iPhone 4S's unchanged form factor might be mollified by this latest rumor making the rounds. Now, it's about the next iPhone's display. Previous reports had already surmised that the iPhone 5 would sport a bigger screen, but now sources speaking to the Wall Street Journal have chimed in as well. According to them, the next iPhone's display will measure "at least 4 inches diagonally."

The WSJ's report carries additional details too, including that Apple has put in the order for the bigger screens from its Asian suppliers -- South Korea's LG Display Co, Japan's Sharp Corp, and Japan Display Inc. The WSJ also says that production is set to begin next month; if so, this makes the appearance of a sixth-gen iPhone unlikely at WWDC, with a fall release seeming increasingly probable.

If this rumor turns out to be true, Apple will have scaled up from the standard 3.5-inch screen it's been using since the launch of the original iPhone back in 2007.
