The wait is over, and The Daily is finally set to ... well, go daily.
The News Corp. and Apple sent out invitations Thursday to the launch of the much anticipated daily news service for the iPad, which will be unveiled Feb. 2 at an event in New York City.
The iPad-only news service had been scheduled to launch in mid January, according to people familiar with the matter, but the launch was reportedly postponed to deal with kinks in the subscription platform for delivering the paper, the Wall Street Journal had reported.
The February 2 event will be feature News Corporation CEO Rupert Murdoch and Apple vice president of Internet services Eddy Cue, and will start at 11 a.m. EST. According to published reports, Apple and News Corp. editors have worked closely to develop the service, which will be the first news product designed specially for the tablet computer.
While exact details about the service have yet to be officially announced, Reuters reported that the service will cost just $0.99 per week, citing News Corp. executive James Murdoch.
