A woman whose sister was an alleged victim of evangelist Tony Alamo has misidentified the preacher at his sex-crimes trial and is offering jurors a different account of how her sister came to "marry" him.
The witness initially identified a defense lawyer as Alamo on Monday, then stood up and correctly pointed out the preacher.
She also said several people were present when Alamo picked his sister as a "wife," but his sister had told jurors only three people were there. Defense lawyers hammered on the difference.
Alamo is named in a 10-count indictment alleging he took young girls across state lines for sex. The 74-year-old could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted.
