The smallest ex-Soviet republic is doubling the size of its peacekeeping contingent in Kosovo, Europe's newest state.
Armenia sent a company of 70 troops to Kosovo on Monday. They will replace the 34-person Armenian platoon now serving there.
About 17,000 NATO-led peacekeepers are deployed in Kosovo amid persistent tension between Serbs and the ethnic Albanian majority nearly a decade after a U.S.-led NATO air war stopped attacks by Serb forces against Albanians.
Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in February. But Armenia has not recognized Kosovo's independence.
