One person was killed when a small plane crashed into a warehouse hangar at a private residential airfield in Chandler, Ariz. Thursday.

The victim died at the scene, according to a Chandler Fire Department spokesperson. It wasn’t immediately clear if the victim was the pilot or if anyone else was injured.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson Ian Gregor said the plane was a single-engine, World War II-era aircraft.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m. local time.

A crew on scene for local station ABC 15 reported seeing fire and smoke pouring from the building. There were also several fire trucks on scene, according to the station.
