WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A Westchester County spokeswoman says a woman accused of strangling her daughter at a suburban New York college has apparently tried to kill herself in jail.
Spokeswoman Donna Greene says 37-year-old Stacy Pagli took off her socks and wrapped them around her neck in her cell at the county jail Thursday morning. Greene says Pagli was lying down at the time.
Pagli already was on suicide watch. She was interrupted by officers and was uninjured. However, she was taken to the Westchester Medical Center emergency room.
Pagli was charged Wednesday with the murder of her 18-year-old daughter, Marissa Pagli, in their apartment on the campus of Manhattanville College.
Police said she also tried to kill herself Monday after the strangling.
