Police are trying to piece together what happened to an 18-year-old Ohio teen who was found in the snow and died a short while later at a local hospital, after she left a hotel, Fox8.com reported.

Ashley Quarterman left an Econolodge in Copley, Ohio late Friday night or early Saturday morning and was found less than a half-mile from the location sitting in the snow behind a vacant building, police told Fox8.com.

Quarterman, whose family called police after she didn't return home, was taken to a nearby hospital where she died a short time later, the station reported.

Police said it appeared the teen suffered complications from extended exposure to the cold.

An autopsy performed Monday showed no signs of physical trauma, and authorities don't suspect foul play. Results from a toxicology test are pending.

Quarterman was visiting friends at the hotel, the Beacon Journal reported.
