The man suspected of holding hostages at gunpoint in a south-central Nebraska bank had recently been fired from his job at a local television station.
Kearney-based NTV said in a statement that the suspect in Wednesday's standoff was a former employee who was fired Feb. 3. The station had no further comment.
The hostage situation at the Wells Fargo Bank branch in downtown Kearney was reported just before 11 a.m. Television station KHAS-TV reported the man came out of the bank and was taken into custody about 1:30 p.m.
No shots had been reported during the hostage situation, but other details remain unclear. Authorities have not released any information, including the man's name.
Kearney is about 185 miles west of Omaha.
