An Australian woman had her arm severed after a freak accident involving a ride-on lawn mower.
The woman, 37, is believed to have lost her right arm just below the elbow in a mower rollover.
She was rushed by helicopter to Cairns Base Hospital, where she was in a stable condition Sunday night, The Cairns Post reported.
Emergency workers praised her partner for applying a tourniquet and bundling her into a car to hasten her trip to Mossman Hospital. The woman was reportedly conscious throughout her ordeal.
An Emergency Management Queensland spokesman said she was a "brave lady" who had reacted calmly to her serious predicament.
Ambulance officers reported a "full amputation" of the right forearm.
