Authorities say the pilot of a single-engine plane has been killed after his aircraft crashed into an empty lot in a northwest Phoenix trailer park.
Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Capt. Dorian Jackson says there were no injuries on the ground. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus confirmed the pilot was killed.
Jackson says the plane came down near 27th Avenue and Deer Valley Drive at about 8:40 a.m. on Thursday. The plane took down several power lines and power is out in the area.
The site is about a mile west of the Deer Valley Airport. Fergus says the pilot was attempting to land.
