Who: Former Gov. Jeb Bush and his wife, Columba invite the residents of Southwest Florida to a grand event.
It’s Florida’s 10th anniversary of the Celebration of Reading, hosted by Mr. Bush, along with his parents, former president George H.W. and Barbara Bush.
Special guests include a host of best-selling authors including: James Bradley - author of "Flags of Our Fathers," "Flyboys"; Jill Conner Browne -- the famed Sweet Potato Queen; Mary Higgins Clark, the top-selling suspense writer in the U.S.; Carol Higgins Clark - the author of 12 bestselling Regan Reilly mysteries; Steve Doocy -- the Emmy Award-winning co-host of "Fox & Friends" and bestselling author of "Tales from the Dad Side"; Jeffrey Engle -- teacher of history at the Bush School of Government & Public Service and author of "The China Diary of George H.W. Bush"; Brad Meltzer -- bestselling fiction author of "The Book of Fate"; Sharon Robinson -- director of educational programming for Major League Baseball whose books, including "Jackie’s Nine" share the important life lessons learned from her father, Jackie; and R.L. What: Volunteer USA’s 10th Anniversary Celebration of Reading is a fundraiser to benefit successful family literacy academies where parents and children learn together. The event includes a VIP mix-and-mingle reception for key supporters, followed by an engaging and touching dinner program where you’ll hear from VIPS, guest authors and parents who have been given a second chance at learning and a better life for their young families. Following the program, guests have an opportunity to meet authors during a special book-signing hour.
