Authorities say two people are dead following the crash of a single engine airplane in southwest Michigan.
The Allegan County Sheriff's Department says the names of the man and woman killed in Sunday's crash are being withheld pending notification of relatives.
Hope College President James Bultman said in a statement that the two victims are believed to be students at the school in Holland, Mich.
The crash was reported around 11:30 a.m. Sunday in Manlius Township. The plane went down into a snow-covered field. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff's department says the small plane made a distress call shortly before it disappeared from radar.
