The mother of a nurse kidnapped last week by her ex-fiance says she's been "ungodly traumatized" but is resting at her parents' house.

Forty-eight-year-old Julie Ann Kilgore was abducted by her ex-fiance on Tuesday. Three days later she escaped her abductor — 50-year-old Dennis Gene Cox — at a hotel in Laramie, Wyoming.

Cox fled Laramie and was killed hours later in a shootout with police at a bus stop in downtown Fort Collins, about 70 miles south.

The nurse's mother, Colleen Kilgore, says her daughter hasn't been able to talk about what happened yet and that the family did not think Cox was dangerous.
