LONDON – Britain's military says one of its soldiers has been killed by an explosion in southern Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Defense says the soldier from 3rd Battalion The Rifles died while on patrol in the Kajaki area in Helmand Province on Monday.
The news brings to 244 the number of British military personnel killed in Afghanistan since the start of operations there in October 2001.
The military says the soldier's family has been informed.
