The wife of a Fort Drum soldier accused of killing his two Army buddies says her husband saw his best friend "blown to pieces" in Iraq and came back a changed man full of violence.

Emily Hunter tells The Associated Press that Joshua Hunter was outgoing before he went to war. When he returned in May, he "seemed on edge."

Hunter says her husband, an MP, talked about seeing his best friend blown up and trying to "put him back together." She says he wasn't the same after that.

Joshua Hunter, 20, was arrested Wednesday in southern Ohio, the day after the bodies of 20-year-old Waide James and 23-year-old Diego Valbuena were found stabbed to death in an apartment complex used mostly by troops at Fort Drum in northern New York.

He faces two counts of second-degree murder.
