A high school in Frankfort has honored a freshman who died while trying out for its basketball team.

WKYT-TV in Lexington reported that before Tuesday night's game, the school presented the parents of Waseeq Shahid with a framed team jersey and a moment of silence was observed in the gymnasium.

Shahid — who was 15 — collapsed and died during wind sprints on Oct. 19.

Franklin County Deputy Coroner Kelly T. Adams said preliminary autopsy results showed the youth had "several abnormalities to the heart."

He had cleared a standard physical examination the week before he died.
