VALLEY COTTAGE, N.Y. – Police are investigating the killing of an elementary school teacher at her suburban New York home.
Clarkstown police Sgt. Nicholas Lafasciano says 32-year-old Jami Erlich was found dead Sunday night in the Rockland County community of Valley Cottage.
Ramapo Central School District Superintendent Robert MacNaughton said she had been a physical education teacher at Connor Elementary School since 2000.
Lafasciano said police were interviewing several people, including family and neighbors of the victim.
Lafasciano said Monday that police were not releasing details of the crime. He said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of her death.
Lafasciano said she apparently was killed between 9:15 and 9:45 p.m. Sunday.
