Kansas authorities say they have picked up a man for questioning in a shooting that left three dead and another wounded, ending a 12-hour manhunt.

Authorities had warned 46-year-old James Kahler could be armed and dangerous and told residents to remain in their homes.

Authorities say Kahler was arrested about 7:30 a.m. Sunday by Shawnee County deputies. The shooting was reported about 6 p.m. Saturday in Osage County in the eastern part of the state.

Shawnee County sheriff's deputy Brad Jones says a deputy spotted a man and vehicle matching the shooter's description about 6:40 p.m. Saturday. He says the man drove onto a private drive and fled on foot into a wooded area.

Osage County is about 35 miles south of Topeka.
