Pennsylvania Cancer Patient Mugged in Own Driveway

Police near Pittsburgh have been searching for someone who mugged a 71-year-old cancer patient in her own driveway.

Police in Plum Borough say Nan Palmer was beaten violently as she walked to her mailbox about 8 p.m. Saturday.

Neighbors say the woman is hospitalized in stable condition after being treated for broken bones in the attack. A neighbor found the victim in her driveway crying for help.

Authorities believe the mugger stole her keys, but it's unclear if anything else was taken. Plum police did not immediately return a call for comment Tuesday.

Plum is about 15 miles east of Pittsburgh.
