A retired New York City policeman was convicted of drugging a woman in a Bronx bar and raping her in a Westchester County motel.

A Westchester jury found Jose Arroyo guilty of rape and drug charges Tuesday. He could be sent to as much as 25 years in prison when sentenced Jan. 20.

Prosecutors said the 47-year-old Arroyo spiked the drink of a 31-year-old woman from Texas, then took her to a Greenburgh motel and raped her. She awoke the next morning and fled.

He insisted the sex was consensual and that he never drugged the woman. But prosecutors said security video from the bar showed Arroyo drugging the woman's drink while she was in the bathroom.
