University of California police have arrested 14 noisy protesters and dispersed dozens of others outside a meeting at UCLA where the regents committee approved a 32 percent boost in student fees at University of California campuses.

Scores of protesters chanted outside the building as the university Board of Regents considered boosting the fees over two years.

Armed, uniformed officers arrested 14 protesters after they refused to leave a meeting room on the University of California, Los Angeles campus. As officers approached them, the protesters locked arms and sang the civil rights anthem, "We Shall Overcome."

No one was injured.

Police say the protesters will be ticketed for unlawful assembly or disturbing the peace and released.
