A Lake Mary teen surfing off New Smyrna Beach was bitten by a shark.

Volusia County Beach Patrol reports that the 18-year-old man was one of about 300 surfers in the water Wednesday when a 4-foot shark grabbed his right leg. The teen suffered minor injuries, including a bump on the shin where the shark hit him and cuts on the back of the calf and the front of the shin.

Officials say the teen was treated on the beach by lifeguards and paramedics, but friends drove him to the hospital.
