An early morning garage fire forced nine people out of the home of a jailed Iraqi immigrant accused of running down his daughter because she had become too "westernized."

Glendale Fire Department spokesman Daniel Valenzuela says firefighters kept the blaze from spreading to other parts of the home.

At least nine people were inside the home when the fire started shortly before 4 a.m Friday. A person inside the home heard a smoke alarm and notified the fire department.

No injuries were reported. Investigators are trying to determine how the fire started and the extent of damage.

Faleh Hassan Almaleki's daughter, Noor Faleh Almaleki, died Monday. Another woman he is accused of running down is expected to survive.
