Four men have been charged with holding dogfights in Indian River County, and deputies were searching for a fifth.
Investigators found the men Saturday with two pit bulls in the middle of a fight, plus four more dogs close by. The sheriff's office says they were responding to a 911 about the fighting.
Authorities filed charges of fighting or baiting animals against 21-year-old Ervin Lee Everett, 30-year-old Christopher Lamar Jones, 31-year-old Jamiey T. Parker and 31-year-old Kenneth Lamont Smith.
They did not identify the remaining suspect.
