Police say a Russian businessman convicted in Israel in the 1980s of being a KGB spy has been shot dead in Moscow.
Moscow city police say unidentified gunmen opened fire on the car of 60-year-old Shabbatai Kalmanovich on Monday.
Born in Soviet Lithuania, Kalmanovich emigrated to Israel in 1971 and worked there as a government adviser on the resettlement of Soviet Jews.
An Israeli court in 1988 convicted him of espionage, and he spent five years in prison.
Kalmanovich then moved to Moscow and from 1994 worked as director general of the large Tishinsky shopping center.
Last year he was named chief executive of Spartak's women's basketball team.
