Falling Out of Line
We have told you many times that the stimulus has failed to live up to expectations. As a result, one Democrat who initially was enthusiastic about the measure is scaling back her support for it.
Since learning the stimulus has only created 30,000 jobs, New Hampshire Representative Carol Shea-Porter isn't so hot on it anymore. Here is what she told a local New Hampshire TV station:

REP. CAROL SHEA-PORTER, D-N.H.: I know that it has created some jobs, but clearly not what we were anticipating. And again, I think that we should have put more money into the infrastructure so that there would be more projects that people could work on.

Ah, I'm guessing that as the stimulus continues to disappoint, a lot of Democrats are going to be singing that same tune in the weeks and months to come.
Do Not Enter
Democrats on the House Oversight Committee were embarrassed last week when Republicans exposed this video showing House Democrats fleeing out a back exit to avoid a crucial vote on the Countrywide mortgage scandal — scandal that implicates key Democrats.
Rather than take responsibility on the issue, the Democrats have continued to act like crybabies. House Oversight Committee Chair Edolphus Towns, who for months has avoided the Countrywide issue, changed the locks to the Oversight Committee's meeting room and locked the Republicans out — all in an effort to prevent them from meeting when the Democrats are not present!
Isn't it comforting to know that when lawmakers engaged in illegal activity, the Democrats are going to be there to get to the bottom of it for you?
The White House is not going to be happy about this next story, because in Virginia, it appears the press is actually asking some tough questions.
Virginia gubernatorial Democratic candidate Creigh Deeds was confronted by reporters after Tuesday's debate with Republican Bob McDonald. Deeds was asked to clear up his position on the government option. Take a look at this incoherent response:

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: Why would we have to think about it?
DEEDS: Well, I think you have to leave all your options on the table. I'm not convinced that the public option is the only one — only way we can reduce cost. I mean.
UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: Is it one way?
DEEDS: It may be one way, yes.
UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: Then why would we opt out?
DEEDS: What may be one way might not be the best way.
UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: No, no. Let me make sure I understand your answer. You're opposed to the public option?
DEEDS: No. I didn't say that.
UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: But you said you would consider taking Virginia out.
DEEDS: You know we've got to look at all —
UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: Why did you say you would take Virginia out?
DEEDS: I said I would consider lots of things, Bob.

So was that a yes or a no?
By the way, I think it's safe to say that those reporters would not be welcome at a White House press briefing.
