A man accused of trying to take bomb materials onto a plane at Orlando International Airport has been sentenced to three years probation after pleading guilty a lesser charge.

Kevin Christopher Brown, a U.S. Army veteran from Jamaica who lives in South Florida, was sentenced Tuesday. He was also ordered to register for mental and drug abuse programs. He pleaded guilty in July to a misdemeanor count of entering an aircraft or airport area in violation of security requirements.

Brown was arrested April 2008 after authorities searched his bags and reportedly found plastic vodka bottles containing a flammable liquid and materials commonly used for making pipe bombs. He had previously faced a felony charge of attempting to place an explosive or incendiary device on an aircraft.
