Police are looking for a 4-day-old newborn snatched from his mother's home in Tennessee by a woman allegedly posing as an immigration agent.

Nashville police say they've found a person of interest, 30-year-old Lisa Sampson, several states away in New York — but baby Yair Anthony Carillo wasn't with her. Police are interviewing Sampson.

Investigators said a woman pretending to be an immigration officer showed up at Maria Gurolla's home in south Nashville Tuesday afternoon and demanded she hand over her newborn son.

When Gurolla would not comply, the woman allegedly stabbed her eight times and took off with the baby.

Gurolla was at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Wednesday recovering from her injuries. It's not clear whether she is an immigrant.

Police didn't say where exactly they found Sampson. The tip to look in New York came in late Tuesday.

Authorities continued to hunt for the baby on Wednesday. The alleged kidnapper is described as a 5'4" heavy-set Caucasian woman in her 30s.
