One person is dead and another in custody after a shooting and standoff Friday at a home in Grand Oaks, Miss.

Local law enforcement sources told FOX affiliate WREG that a man released from a mental health institution earlier in the day shot his father and reportedly was holding other people hostage.

The home is believed to be owned by Billy Autry, the owner of a local limousine company and a one-time suspect in local drug trade, residents told FOX News.

The suspected gunman is believed to be Autry's son.

The streets in the surrounding area were blocked. Residents were told to remain off the streets, witnesses and residents tell FOX News.

The home is in a Grand Oaks golf community south of the Ole Miss campus.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Jon Kalahar did not release information on the suspected shooter or victim, though he said the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was assisting Oxford police at the scene of the standoff.
