D.C. Metro Asks Riders to Take H1N1 Precautions

Washington's Metro subway system is asking riders to take precautions to avoid spreading swine flu, ranging from covering your mouth when sneezing to carrying tissues, hand-sanitizing gels, and disinfecting wipes.

Metro says it also is using an environmentally friendly disinfectant cleaner to wipe down surfaces throughout the system.

Metro Chief Safety Officer Alexa Dupigny-Samuels says good personal hygiene can cut the risk of catching the disease.

More than 1 million people ride Metro trains each day.
