Four teammates and a classmate of a Kentucky football player who died three days after collapsing at the end of a football practice have testified that the teen complained of not feeling well that day.

The teammates and classmate testified Tuesday as the defense began its case in the trial of former Pleasure Ridge Park coach David Jason Stinson, who is charged with reckless homicide and wanton endangerment.

The charges stem from the collapse of 15-year-old sophomore offensive lineman Max Gilpin at the end of practice on Aug. 20, 2008.

Gilpin died three days later of heat stroke, sepsis and multiple organ failure at a Louisville hospital.

Prosecutors said Stinson ran a brutal practice the day Gilpin collapsed. Stinson's defense says the practice wasn't unusually hard.

Stinson's trial is a rare case of a coach being prosecuted for a player's death.
