Authorities say a Colombian national who fled to the United States to avoid serving a 35-year sentence for a 1994 double homicide in his home country has been deported to Colombia.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement reports that 41-year-old Raul Sanabria Castaneda was removed from the U.S. Friday.
ICE agents turned him over to Interpol agents at El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, Colombia.
Authorities discovered Castaneda after he was arrested in December on local battery and disorderly intoxication charges.
He was using the alias Ramon Diaz. A fingerprint records check confirmed he was wanted internationally.
Castaneda was convicted in March of visa misuse, making false statements and aggravated identity theft.
