Police: Pennsylvania Mother Stabbed Son, 12, in Back

A 12-year-old boy is recovering after police say his mother stabbed him in the back three times at their suburban Philadelphia apartment.

Telford police say the boy's injuries aren't as serious as they initially feared.

Lt. Randy Floyd says police are still trying to determine why the woman stabbed the boy. Police say charges against her are pending.

The woman was also taken to the hospital for evaluation. Names have not been released.

Investigators believe it happened around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment in Telford, about 25 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

When officers responded, they say the woman barricaded herself inside. She was arrested after she opened the door to look outside.
