Two women in their 20s were found dead today at a vacant house in North Hollywood, Calif. with their throats slashed, and a third woman in her 40s was taken to a hospital with knife wounds, police said.

Los Angeles police Capt. Ivan Minsal, speaking at the scene, said family members who came to a house in the 7800 block of Irvine Avenue and were helping sort out what may have happened.

One fatally wounded victim was found in the main house and the other in a converted garage, he said. The third woman suffered knife wounds to her upper body and wrists, and could turn out to be a suspect, police said.

"She's a person of interest until we establish her role," Minsal said. "Soon as she's clear medically, our detectives will be speaking with her."

All three women are believed to be related.

Police received a 911 call about 11:40 a.m., apparently from a neighbor who spotted one of the bodies.

Minsal said detectives were processing the crime scene and trying to figure out who, if anyone, lived at the house. The names of the victims were not immediately available.
