Searchers acting on a tip called in to the television show "America's Most Wanted" are looking for a missing north Georgia woman in North Carolina.

Kristi Cornwell, 38, of Blairsville, disappeared from her hometown Aug. 11. Police said she was abducted while talking to her boyfriend on her cellphone during a walk.

U.S. marshals searched Sunday in the area of Kings Mountain, N.C., near Charlotte and almost 200 miles from Blairsville. Officers said a caller to the TV show said the woman's body could be found there. The case was profiled on the show Saturday night.

Detectives conducted a search there on Sunday and resumed searching on Monday, said Steve Gladden, a deputy U.S. marshal. The Marshals Service is being assisted by the Cleveland County sheriff's office and the local volunteer fire department.

"There's a possibility they will be using dogs a little bit later," he said. The reason: The tip seems credible.

"Put it this way, there is enough information for us to proceed and not discount it completely," he said. "But there's no body yet."

Cornwell's family is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to her safe return or the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for her disappearance.
